Tailor / alterations services?
I have 6 or 7 pairs of pants I need to get shorter. Some of them are dress pants and others are nice jeans that are just way too long (ie, I do not want to just cut). I have never used a tailor / alterations service before, so I was wondering what is the process where I take my pants … I do not measure? How long does it usually take to get items back? What kind of cost can be expected?
When you go there, just tell them you need to hem pants. They ask you to put on a pair along with the type of shoes you like carry with them (heel height, mostly) and then either pin it up to the length you want or as you like. They can do this for each pair of pants or just one if you go for a similar fashion in all patients. How long will it take depends on how busy they are. One would have to ask. Estimated prices are different – they can range from $ 8.30 per pair. This depends on whether they are dependent on a clothing store / dry cleaning or working for a chain.
