How to dress in Paris?
In March I’ll be visiting a friend in Paris and this will be my first time in Europe. I’m a 20 year old female and want to know what is appropriate to wear. I live in Florida so I know nothing about cool weather clothing and will need to do some shopping. Any suggestions? Names of inexpensive clothing stores that would sell the type of clothing I need would be much appreciated!

If one is totally objective, there is no dress code in France at the moment except for formal occasions and people wear what they fancy or what is deemed to be appropriate for their age group. You will find anything from mini skirts on teenage girls, worn with thick tights or leggings, to tunics. In your age group many women like jeans or slacks , which come in various styles but generally ar tapered or slimline, Dark colours are very much in and leather jackets or cinched short coats are seen just about everywhere.
When you are on the spot you will find all sorts of things as you walk about and it is not always the chain stores that offer the best buys. In any case you do not want to be a clone and wear whatever seems to be in on everyone else’s back.
Big knits are in and the key is always accessorise: nice scarves, inexpensive but original jewelry, trendy berets or knitted hats.
Just a word of warning: clothes are expensive in Paris even in the cheaper outlets like C and A , H and M, etc…compared to prices in the USA and clothes are not that different from those sold in New-York for instance, which of course is a completely different climate to where you live, but you probably can get some basics much cheaper in the States.
