Help! College Grad w/ Question about Civilian Military jobs?
I just graduate a week ago from college with a degree of Business Administration. I’ve been looking for jobs but haven”t gotten call backs and only one interview at Sears that wanted me to start as a sales associate at $9 an hour. So now i’m thinking about getting a business office job in the military (Army Base-FORT BRAGG), My questions are:
If i get a military job would I be able to wear civilian business clothes to work?
Will I have to go overseas/travel?
Have you ever worked as a civilian on base?
How were you treated? Salary/Position?
My boyfriend is Marine, will be get extra benefits or anything if we get married and i’m working for the gov’t?
Thank you!
Unless you join the military, you will be required to wear civilian attire (whether business or not, is dependent on your job).
There are civilian positions overseas, you will not be required to go there unless you chose too.
I personally have never worked as a civilian on base, but was at a base that had as many civilians as military working on it.
Civilian counterparts are treated with the respect they deserve, their pay is based primarily on the Government Scale (GS), with step increases within the grades. See link in source
Neither you nor your boyfriend will get any special compensation or extra benefits if you are married, that you wouldn’t get if you weren’t employed by the government.
A government job would be exactly like a civilian job, except you work on base and your boss is Uncle Sam.
