The Kmart Black Friday bash happens the first Friday after Thanksgiving. During this time, shoppers usually have their list in hand, cloths laid out for the next day and alarm clock set to the wee hours of the morning. That’s when shoppers quickly grab their shopping buddies and head out to Kmart and other discount shopping stores such as Walmart to get as many deals as they can.
This trend started in the 1960’s. This is when high-priced retailers started to take advantage of the biggest shopping day of the season or Black Friday 2009 (at that time) by cutting prices to attract large numbers of customers through their doors. To give you a little history, the reason why this day is called Black Friday is that for many retailers, it’s the first day of the year that their balance books turned from Red to Black, which meant a positive balance.
